Official note from the Italian MFA
Rome, 27 April 2005 - The Third Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies will be held in Santiago from 28-30 April where over 140 countries have been invited. The Italian Delegation will be led by the Honourable Emma Bonino. Previous Ministerial Conferences were held in Warsaw in 2000 and in Seoul in 2002 where the Honourable Emma Bonino also led the Italian Delegation.
Santiago will be an important opportunity in firmly consolidating collaboration among countries sharing common values of freedom and democracy and willing to reinforce democratic institutions in countries of recent democracy or in transition.
Italy has always strongly supported the activities of the Community of Democracies, fully sharing its fundamental principles and applauds the idea of collaboration among like-minded countries in relevant international fora.
