TRANSATLANTIC DEMOCRACY NETWORK CONFERENCE
Brussels, 25 May 2005 - The conference, organized by Freedom House, the National Endowment for Democracy and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, is an opportunity to take advantage of recent events in post-communist states and in the broader Middle East, as well as the renewed commitment to democratization on the part of the EU and the U.S. administration. Such developments suggest that there is a shared commitment on both sides of the Atlantic to assist those elsewhere who are committed to democratic values and working to make them a reality. This is a chance to acquaint transatlantic democracy supporters with the transatlantic policy mainstream and to discuss mutual concerns, activities and experiences. Emma Bonino, MEP, will chair the Regional Working Group on Thursday, May 26.
